Cliff Spencer is the principal designer and builder at Cliff Spencer Furniture Maker, a custom woodwork shop and licensed C6 contractor, in Los Angeles, CA. Cliff is dedicated to producing the highest quality work with respect to the environment and future generations. In addition to FSC and fast-growing species, his furniture and even his built-in work maintains a strong emphasis on reclaimed and salvaged lumber.
Cliff learned wood working from the talented professionals he has worked for in Los Angeles, New York City and Aspen, CO. Since he started his own shop, in 2004, he has completed a range of residential and commercial projects, including several for architect, David Hertz, the Los Angeles Magazine 2005 Green Design Home, and the Casa del Mar Hotel spa. The business has been featured in Woodshop News and the CBS Evening News. His furniture and cabinetry work has been in numerous design publications and blogs.
Cliff was born in Birmingham, AL. He has a BA in Theater and English from Rhodes College in Memphis, TN. He owns and runs this family business with his wife, Leigh Kivowitz Spencer. His son, Scout, has some nice building blocks. Scout just wants to learn how to sand.
